Introduce your child to the exciting world of science with the Big Bag of Science. Kids aged 8 years and older can perform more than 70 experiments with this kit, allowing them to explore mind-stretching science principles while having fun. The kit comes with plenty of tools and safe chemicals to get your young scientist started, including test tubes, a magnifying glass, gravity goo powder, and many other supplies necessary to perform the experiments.
With experiments covering life science, physical science, and earth science, this kit encourages kids to discover new aspects of the world. Topics in the lab book include chemistry, physics, geology, biology, magnets, and many other arenas, giving your budding scientist a variety of ways to discover new facts.
Your child will also get a look at the tools of science with the many materials included in this kit. The test tubes, pipettes, magnifying glass, petri dishes, and other materials help to teach skills such as observation, classification, and measuring.
The included lab booklet tells kids--and their adult lab assistant--how to perform more than 70 experiments. The experiments will familiarize your child with the scientific process of developing a hypothesis, performing a test, and analyzing the results.
Some of these experiments are messy, such as the soda geyser experiment and the slime bubbles activity, while others are more simplistic. Whether messy or not, each experiment is geared toward teaching kids about an exciting principle of science. Experiments toward the end of the book encourage kids to take their test tubes outside to see what they can discover and collect.
With wit and humor, the lab booklet offers step-by-step instructions for each experiment and explains the science behind the process. The book helps your child explore cool scientific processes, like why the materials in baby diapers are absorbent, how compasses use magnets to work, and what makes us burp. Kids will learn to determine whether a sunscreen works to block out harmful rays and discover the composition of water.
Your child's science lab conveniently packs back into its bag for an easy way to keep the materials together when they're not in use. All the powders and beads come in resealable baggies that help to reduce spills and messes. If kids don't use a whole substance in the first experiment, they can seal it up and pack it for later. The science kit's bag features a sturdy zipper with two pulls and a handle on top for carrying.
Big Bag of Science zippered bag, five test tubes, two test tube holders, one pipette, various trays and containers, one magnifying glass, one balloon, multiple papers, powders, goos, and beads, lab booklet, and instructions.

It would've helped to have an illustrated list of equipment, though, as I wasn't sure what some items called for were at first. #4 stopped us, though, as the instructions aren't clear. It begins saying "After the Coloring Tablets quit fizzing" even though the list of items called for on this equipment do not include the Coloring Tablets, so I'm not sure how that plays in. Then it asks you to "...pull the bag of Superabsorbent Crystals out of your Baby Soda Bottle." Umm, what is this "Baby Soda Bottle"? I can find the bag of crystals, I just can't find anything labeled as a "Baby Soda Bottle, nor is it listed in the 'From the Kit' item list." Then it asks you to pour crystals into the 2oz plastic cups... okay, fine... but the next line says something about them soaking up the water. What water? How much? As a science experiment, I shouldn't be guessing on measurements, I should have clearer... We were able to do some of the experiments, but found that the instructions didn't match up exactly with the labels on some of the ingredient packaging so it was a little confusing and frustrating for us, and good test of our children's patience. There were no illustrations in the directions to help verify what you're doing is correct, or that you have the correct parts, and/or ingredients. You may want to buy locally and open/inventory & review directions and parts before giving as a gift to your child or someone else, or buy through Amazon to insure easy return in either case. 34 of 35 people found the following review helpful ![]() = Durability: ![]() ![]() ![]() Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?) This review is from: Be Amazing Toys Big Bag Of Science (Toy) We bought this for our 7 year old girl who loves science. We haven't done more than 3 experiments because she has had a blast with the gooey balls that grow in water. She has been drying them out and re-hydrating them for weeks. But is is VERY messy. If you are OCD about mess do not get this kit or just do it outside. The slime is difficult to clean up and you're not suppose to get it in your drains. The test tubes are high quality, very thick plastic. Ours have been dropped on the tile floor at least 5 times and not a crack. |
